Rachel Lehmann and David Maupin are delighted to announce the appointment of Sam Pedder-Smith as Global Director of Finance.
Based in New York, Pedder-Smith will be responsible for all financial, accounting, and business analysis processes for the company and will oversee the Human Resources department. Pedder-Smith will play a key role in strategic planning, investing, and budget forecasting; he will also continue to build and maintain strong relationships between the Lehmann Maupin finance team and artists, vendors, staff, and clients. Additionally, he will work closely with senior leadership to optimize profitability for both the gallery and its artists.
Pedder-Smith joins Lehmann Maupin with over twenty years of experience in the industry. Most recently, he served as Chief Financial Officer at Bonhams, where he was a key member of the US executive team and was responsible for the financial planning and reporting for the company. Prior to Bonham’s, he held the role of Finance Director, Arts Departments at Christie’s auction house in New York for over ten years. He has also held positions at GE Capital and KPMG.
“Sam’s leadership, coupled with his innovative financial strategies, will infuse our business with new energy,” says David Maupin. “We are confident that Sam’s entrepreneurial approach will not only fortify our financial foundation, but also lead us towards greater heights as we continue to expand the gallery’s footprint and grow our artist roster.”
“I am delighted to be joining the team at Lehmann Maupin with their clear artist focus and track record of success in growing the business over many years” says Pedder-Smith. “I am looking forward to driving improvements in the commercial and business processes that will support the gallery’s next phase of expansion.”
