Lehmann Maupin returns to West Bund for the fourth time with a selection of new and recent works by nine international artists whose conceptually parallel artistic practices challenge formal, aesthetic, and sociopolitical conventions.
Highlights at the booth include the debut of David Salle’s Tree of Life #10 (2021), a monumental painting from the eponymous series, currently on view at Lehmann Maupin Seoul, a noteworthy Altar work by McArthur Binion, whose solo exhibition Modern:Ancient:Brown was presented this fall in New York, and a mixed-media, bodily sculpture by renowned Korean artist Lee Bul, from her celebrated Anagram series. The booth will also feature a new sculpture by Tom Friedman, which evidences his meticulous, decades-long commitment to challenging concepts of perception, logic, and plausibility, alongside an intimately-scaled painting by Angel Otero. Lehmann Maupin will also present work by Mandy El-Sayegh, Shirazeh Houshiary, Liu Wei, Do Ho Suh, and Barry McGee.
