Program: What we are Loving This Week (Septemeber 8-14)
Art There may actually be more gallery show openings this week than fashion shows-we're talking dozens, many at off-the-beaten-path galleries. We love the unsettling deconstruction of the family-portrait genre in artist Jamie Diamond's Portrait Histories, at Galeria Ramis Barquet (opening Friday, Sept. 10, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; show ends Oct. 2). And who knew Yul Brynner was a shutterbug? His photos are at Lehmann Maupin on Chrystie Street (opening Sunday, Sept. 12, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.; show ends Sept. 25).
SUZAN FRECON's abstract, color-saturated oil paintings at David Zwirner Gallery (opening Tuesday, Sept. 14, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.).
POSTMASTERS in Chelsea exhibits intimate photos of Chris Verene's FAMILY (opening Friday, Sept. 10, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.).
DENNIS MAHER's "afterlife of waste" at Black & White Gallery in Brooklyn (opening Saturday, Sept. 10, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.).
