A cherry tree is taking up part of the huge exhibition space. It’s an intervention by Anya Gallecio commissioned by the Center on the occasion of the artist’s residence there. One Art, which is the work’s title and is derived from a poem by Elizabeth Bishop, underscores the extraordinary formal and structural characteristics of the tree, which can only be viewed in its entirety by standing at a distance of about 16 meters. Gallaccio is here in New York for her first solo show in an American museum. Concurrently at the Center is an exhibition by Michael Ross and In Practice, a group show of emerging sculptors.
