The historic Central Pavillion at Giardini hosts the main exhibition for the Venice Biennale in a multifunctional and versatile structure of 3,500 square meters. For this year’s exhibition, Cecilia Vicuña will present one of her renowned and critically acclaimed Quipu installations, alongside historical paintings from the 1970s and two brand new paintings. The installation will consist of Precarios made with items that have been collected during her lifetime—from nets, fishing wire, twigs, ropes, etc. The work will be completed in situ with items that will be sourced from Venice, as a nod to Italian culture and her personal connection to the country.
