Lehmann Maupin is pleased to participate in the second edition of Frieze Viewing Room, in place of Frieze London. The gallery’s online presentation coincides with the launch of Lehmann Maupin London opening Monday 5 October at Cromwell Place. In celebration of its UK-based artists and roots, the gallery’s presentation will feature signature works by Billy Childish, Mandy El-Sayegh, Shirazeh Houshiary, and Do Ho Suh. The virtual showcase will also provide a link to artists with concurrent museum exhibitions across Europe, such as Kader Attia’s celebrated survey at Kunsthaus Zürich and Lari Pittman’s traveling retrospective at the Kistefos-Museet, Norway. Both artists will be featured prominently in Lehmann Maupin London’s inaugural presentation.
Additional Lehmann Maupin artists highlighted in the Frieze Viewing Room include McArthur Binion, Lee Bul, OSGEMEOS, Angel Otero, and Jennifer Steinkamp.
Overall, this presentation features a selection of artists from the gallery’s program who employ complex processes of art-making in a variety of media, from Liza Lou’s distinctive use of glass beads to Lee Bul’s mastery of natural materials like mother of pearl, to explore themes of collective and personal memory, materiality, representation, and identity.
